Amber & Jeff | Life is Beautiful
I woke up this past Sunday morning to a post on Facebook about a 2016 bride and groom. My heart immediately sank. Her mother had posted that, Amber and Jeff, had lost their home and their german shepherd, Major, to a house fire. Amber and Jeff are safe. They weren’t home when the fire started.
Since I was a child, I have contemplated all the things I would save should my home catch on fire.
The first thing has always been my photos. I know photography has always been important to me but when I thought about this early Sunday morning, I had a moment realization. I realized why photography has always been a focal point in my life. Photography gives you tangible memories. A photo will never replace memories, but it gives you a way to visualize a moment in time. As I filtered through Amber and Jeff’s wedding album, my heart ached for them. Looking through their day reminded me how many important keepsakes they lost: Amber’s dress, the book she wrote for Jeff and had her sister deliver to him, her veil, their guest book. So many tokens from their wedding day are gone.
Material things can be replaced.
Homes can be re-built and they still have the memories from their day. But most important, Amber & Jeff have each other. They also have an amazing friends and family as a support system. Even the community is pulling together to help Amber and Jeff. Local news WVUA23 covered their story here.
Life is Beautiful.
The good and the bad. The hard things in life help you grow and become closer. If you can, please help Amber and Jeff. You can donate to their GoFundMe here.
I am honored when a bride and groom choose me to photograph their wedding day.
When they choose me to preserve their memories in a tangible medium. Today, I am glad that I hoard memories. I still have Amber and Jeff’s wedding gallery and can provide them with happy memories in a time of sadness.
